in late2006 ,mini is expected to launch cautiosly revised,second generation modle(code-name R56),which could spawn a subsequent slew of derivatives to broaden the marquesappel and reach.the proportions and apperance of the R56 likely will remain similar to those of the current car, which, of course closely mimics the original Mini.  However, the R56 will be slightly longer-by about two inches-and will boast a modified chassis and new powertrains.
